Children are referred to Foundation ThinkAgain through their treating medical facilities. All children who go through cancer and brain tumor treatments are followed annually by their treating medical team, which includes a school re-integration specialist who works directly with each patient from the point of initial diagnosis, through treatment and at follow up. Through this process, children who are experiencing difficulty are identified and referred to a specialist for a comprehensive cognitive and academic evaluation to determine the need for our services. These children are then referred to qualified therapists for intervention. All children who receive services through ThinkAgain are re-tested at the completion of their rehabilitation, and the results of these assessments are then used in the school re-integration process to plan future services by their home schools. ThinkAgain works closely with schools and families to assure proper special education classification, optimal services and class placements in their home schools, and assure continuation of services as the children advance in grade level.
